There is a smell, I took off the covers and washed them, and left the pillow on the balcony for two weeks to get the smell out. The base of the pillow is memory foam, but it is tough, I have not yet had such hard pillows. And one more news, this is a foam defect, there are voids from poor-quality casting, the last photo shows. The package was on the road for two weeks, the track number was tracked.

The photo of thus pillow makes the "V" for one's head appear lower than it is. Very firm pillow and takes awhile to get used to.
